Since independence, GIJ has been leading the way in journalism and media education. However, with the role and status of journalism, along with other forms of mass media undergoing changes as a result of the internet, a group of alumni are now seeking to promote technology, innovation and media, social and collaborative multimedia, cross-media studies, and visual communication, with appropriate grounding in concepts, theories, and research methods. It is the long-term goal of Abibirim to become the preferred medium for accessing authentic traditional Ghanaian music and, thoroughly researched information as accessing information and news is breaking new horizons.
